Vasco: The Naphtha pumping from Nu Shu Nalini to Ganesh Banzoplast Ltd is believed to have continued on Saturday despite directions given by the District Collector South Ajit Roy on Friday.
After inspecting the Naphtha pipeline at Sada near Khapreshwar temple and GBL premise for safety measures, Roy, on Saturday, issued a show cause notice to the chairman of MPT asking him why the pumping of naphtha is not stopped without having safety measures at the vicinity.
On Saturday afternoon, District Collector South Ajit Roy inspected the naphtha pipeline in presence of Urban Development Minister Milind Naik along with some municipal councillors and his supporters. After the inspection, Roy, it was learnt from some sources, has instructed MPT to immediately stop pumping naphtha from vessel.
Later, on Saturday evening, Collector Ajit Roy issued a show cause notice to the Chairman of MPT stating that during his inspection of the naphtha pipeline the pipeline near Khapreshwar temple approximately 10 metres on both sides are near main road is exposed.
Earlier on Saturday morning, Milind Naik has said that he had called Chief secretary Parimal Rai around 25 times but Rai didn’t respond. Naik also alleged that Rai could be hand in glove with MPT administration.
He further said the ship is good from all directions and can keep naphtha inside therefore naphtha can be pumped back to vessel,” Naik added.
Later, Naik said that he has spoken to CM, and CM Sawant has instructed the Collector to check the details and stop the pumping of naphtha in the tanks at Bogda. I have taken briefing from the advocate general and if required we will approach court in this matter, Naik added.
On concluding note, Naik opined that he is concerned about the safety of the people and he can’t take chance on it.
