PONDA: Collem Police arrested two persons from Hubli, Karnataka at Mollem Check Post for possessing de-notified old currency notes of Rs 500 in the form of sixty bundles of hundred each worth Rs 30 lakh, while they were attempting to enter Goa.
According to the Collem Police, they arrested Afzal Khan (45) and Gopal Chnadmani (45), both resident of Hubli, for possessing the notes. The incident took place when Collem Police were issuing challans for traffic violations. When the Police stopped the two for entering Goa border without wearing helmet, both the alleged accused fled from the spot. However, when the police chased and caught them, they made the surprising find. Police arrested both the persons and presented before the Deputy Collector who released them on bail.
