To mark the Makar Sankranti festival, Union High School in St. Cruz constituency hosted its annual Kite Festival for the second consecutive year. The event, organized under the able guidance of Nirmala Naik, the Teacher Incharge, witnessed an overwhelming response from participants and spectators alike.
A total of seven schools from the surrounding areas enthusiastically took part in the festivities, bringing the sky to life with a myriad of kites of all shapes and sizes. The event showcased the creative prowess of the students as they engaged in both kite-making and kite-flying competitions.
Ms. Nirmala Naik, the driving force behind the event, expressed her delight at the level of participation and the vibrant atmosphere created by the colorful kites filling the sky. She stated, “It’s heartening to see the enthusiasm and talent displayed by our young participants. The Kite Festival not only brings joy but also fosters a sense of camaraderie among the schools in the community.”
The festival, held on Monday, attracted a whopping 100 participants who showcased their skills in crafting unique kites. The creativity on display was truly exceptional, with students employing a variety of materials and designs to make their kites stand out.
The highlight of the day was the kite-flying competition, where participants showcased their flying skills, navigating their colorful creations through the sky. The cheers of encouragement from the audience filled the air as the kites gracefully danced and twirled in the wind.
