MARGAO: Passers-bye and two-wheeler riders crossing the police station road and the main Colva road had to face the brunt of the men-in-uniform after they dispersed of the mob from the police station area.
A local resident Elton Fernandes said he was assaulted with lathis near Dalima on the main Colva road when he had gone to purchase medicines for his wife. “Around 6-7 policemen suddenly made their presence felt at the place and mercilessly beat me up. I have nothing to do with the Benaulim or Colva incident, but they just pounced on him without any rhyme or reason,” Elton said.
He said he has sustained injuries on his back on account of the lathi blows, while demanding justice.
Many two-wheelers riders also complained of high handedness by the men-in-uniform who were camping on the main road.
