MARGAO: Residents of Colva have slammed the State government for failing to repair the stretches of roads in the village that were recently dug up for sewerage-related work.

While the locals recalled that one such stretch had sunk recently during a spell of heavy showers, they demanded that PWD carry out an inspection and fix responsibility either on the contractor or the sewerage department for the poor road conditions. Adding that the bad roads are also spoiling Colva’s status as a tourist destination, the locals said that the PWD could have used the break in the monsoon rains to repair and hot mix the roads.

They pointed out that earlier, potholes were patched up haphazardly, but that also has been washed away. They added that it is particularly scary for two-wheeler riders who could lose balance on these potholes.
