MARGAO: The Colva police succeeded in arresting the couple that had fled Goa after murdering Assamese Samuel alias Rahul Soren on December 12.
A team of Colva police arrested Magna Gopi alias Suraj and his wife Etna Devi with the help of Palkut police in Jharkhand and the couple will be brought down to Goa in a couple of days after following the due procedure required to transfer them to the custody of Goa police.
Colva Police Inspector Filomeno Costa was all praise and grateful to Superintendent of Police Arwind Gawas as it was only because Gawas spoke to the Superintendent of Police at Palkut in Jharkhand that the couple could be arrested.
It may be recalled that Samuel was reportedly killed on December 12 even as Suraj and his wife Etna were celebrating their daughter’s birthday and though Samuel had helped in shopping for the party. Samuel’s body was exhumed on December 17 from a sandy place next to the Varca beach where it was buried.
Police had arrested two others involved in the crime namely Pradeep Hora and Safar Khan late night on December 17.
