The court was supposed to hear, separately, the arguments on the applications for interim bail, surrender and regular bail.
The court has already allowed the application of maintainability of Calvert’s bail plea, and later the panch moved an application for interim bail. The applications will come up for hearing before JMFC Vijaylakshmi Shivolkar on December 7. Arguments on the maintainability of the bail application were heard for two days by JMFC Reina Fernandes; defence lawyer Adv Rajeev Gomes contented that the JMFC has power to rule in a bail application filed for offences registered under the SC/ST Act. The defence argument has been accepted by the court and the judge will now pronounce her order on Calvert’s bail application.
