MARGAO: Supporters of both present and past MLAs of Benaulim constituency claimed credit for the commencement of road hot-mixing at Colva by the Public Works Department (PWD) on Wednesday.

The road dug by the Sewerage Department was in total mess and as a result locals and tourists coming to Colva beach used to face several hardships while travelling. Hot-mixing of Colva roads is a big relief to all.

Supporters of MLA Venzy Viegas, former MLA Churchill Alemao gathered at the site of hot mixing to participate in the prayers conducted at the venue. “Earlier at the time of elections the same MLA was charging Churchill for zero development, but now he is admitting that 80 per cent of the road works has been done in Benaulim constituency which means Churchill got the work done,” said Alemao.

Speaking to media Viegas said people suffered a lot due to the bad condition of roads for the last few years.

“All the paper works pertaining to the hot mixing of Colva roads was done earlier and was waiting for it to commence. Finally, work started after follow-ups with the concerned departments. People of Colva deserve the good roads,” said Viegas.

Alemao further said that no constituency can compete with Benaulim with regard to the road development, and also charged Venzy for not being available for his constituents round-the-clock.the people 24X7.

Raymond Pereira said the iconic beach of Colva has become a hot spot for accidents due to the bad conditions of the road.
