PANJIM: The anti-corruption-branch (ACB) has registered an offence against the Sarpanch of Colva Panchayat and other members in connection with the alleged illegal issuance of no-objection certificates and licences.
Colva Sarpanch Snowkon Gonsalves, ex-sarpanch Angela Borges, Panch member Cajie Fernandes and Secretary have been booked under section 120-B of IPC and section 13(2)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, taking cognisance of a complaint filed by a local activist. The activist alleged criminal conspiracy while issuing NOC/licenses to garages and illegal shed in UBI’s Pride apartment. He also alleged encroachment of public access in the property bearing survey No. 6/5 C of village Colva to provide pecuniary benefits to one Xavier Fernandes by overlooking complaints of residents of UBI’s Pride apartments and the locals.
