MARGAO: Colva villagers have filed a complaint against a contractor for dumping construction debris in the open field and damaging the eco-system of the village.
Expressing serious concern pertaining to alleged illegal dumping of construction debris villagers have urged the authorities to act immediately. The concerned contractor has dumped all the debris from the construction site in the open field opposite Golden Crown Beach Resort, Colva, resulting in major damage to the environment.
John Filip Cota, has filed a complaint with the Colva panchayat demanding strict action against the contractor.
“This illegal dumping of construction debris is seriously affecting the fertile land and causing serious environmental issues. The concerned authorities need to take strict action on this as it also affects the cultivable land,” he stated in the complaint.
He further informed that even waste has been dumped in the paddy fields.
The alleged illegal dumping of construction debris has been going on for the last many days and citizens have expressed serious concern on the issue. Locals are of the opinion that the Administrator appointed at the Colva panchayat should immediately carryout inspection and initiate the action, so that more damage is avoided to the environment and the open fields over here.
