Colvale Police Apprehend Accused Evading Arrest in Cheating Case

Colvale Police successfully apprehended an accused individual who had been evading arrest for the past month in connection with a cheating case. The arrest comes following a complaint filed by Sangeeta Kandolkar of Bardez, who reported that Amar Mandrekar from Parye, Sattari, had allegedly approached her, claiming to have influential contacts in the current government.

The accused, identified as Amar Mandrekar, allegedly assured the complainant that he could assist her in securing a government job through his purported connections. Making promises of a job for her relative, Mandrekar allegedly demanded Rs. 3,00,000 for the employment opportunity. Subsequently, he accepted Rs. 20,000 in cash as an advance payment and then became unreachable.

Upon discovering the deceit, the complainant filed a report on December 8, 2023. Learning that an FIR had been lodged against him at Colvale Police Station, the accused continued to evade authorities. However, Colvale Police successfully tracked and apprehended Amar Mandrekar on January 10, 2024.

The accused has been formally arrested under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This development marks a significant step in addressing cases of fraudulent activities and upholding the legal recourse against those engaging in deceptive practices.
