Colvale Police have successfully apprehended burglary suspect and recovered stolen gold worth Rs. 4.5 lakh. Police acted swiftly on a complaint filed by Blandine Alfonso of Madhlowada, Assonora, Bardez, Goa, who reported a burglary incident at her residence on February 20, 2024. Unknown assailants entered her house around 2:30 am and made away with valuable items, including 2 gold bangles, a gold chain with a cross pendant, and imitated jewelry, collectively valued at approximately Rs. 4,50,000/-.
Colvale Police registered a case under Cr. No. 16/2024, invoking sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and immediately initiated an investigation. The team, led by PI Vijay Rane and comprising PSI Sahil Warang, HC Pandurang Naik, PC Sulesh Naik, PC Nikhil Naik, and Sadashiv Parab, sprang into action.
Through strategic intelligence gathering, the police swiftly apprehended the suspect, identified as Tanveer Ahmad, aged 20, residing in Assonora, Bardez, Goa. Tanveer, who was attempting to flee at Assonora Bus stand, was taken into custody. The police successfully recovered all the stolen gold ornaments from his possession, resulting in his arrest under sections 457 and 380 of the IPC.
The meticulous investigation led to the recovery of the stolen items within 24 hours of the incident being reported. The retrieved gold ornaments include two gold bangles, one gold chain with a cross pendant, and imitate jewelry comprising two bangles, two chains, one finger ring, and one wristwatch, collectively valued at Rs. 4,50,000/-.
The case is currently under investigation with PSI Sahil Warang, under the supervision of PI Colvale Vijay Rane, overall oversight by SP (N) Porvorim Akshat Kaushal, IPS, and SDPO Mapusa Sandesh Chodankar. The swift resolution of the case underscores the dedication and effectiveness of the police force in ensuring the safety and security of the community.
