The Colvale police cracked the ‘white gold’ theft case and arrested Mohammad Parvez Yameen, a native of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, for his alleged involvement in the crime. The police seized the element of platinum, which is extracted from the catalytic converter of four-wheeler silencers and has a wide demand in the international market. Items worth Rs 20.32 lakh were stolen from the four-wheelers in Goa and Maharashtra have been seized from his custody
The 122 catalytic converters of four-wheelers costing Rs 8,000 each, are worth Rs 9.76 lakh and 66 kgs of carbon/dust particles containing elements of platinum cost Rs 16,000, per kg, all worth Rs 10.56 lakh, were seized from the possession of Mohammad Parvez Yameen.
