Colvale road rage: woman assaulted, all three absconding accused arrested, FIR filed against three men

In a disturbing incident, a 24-year-old young woman was assaulted by three men, near Ram Mandir, Colvale, due to road rage confrontation. Sources stated that the Alto car cut across the path of the scooter which led to an altercation. The three men got down from the car blocked the path of the young woman and the male pillion rider.

The argument led to an assault. The young woman who works as a pharmacist was medically examined at North Goa District Hospital and was discharged after treatment of her injuries. Thereafter she filed a complaint at the Colvale Police Station. She could not however identify the accused since they absconded.

The Colvale Police have taken swift action, identified their cell numbers and arrested the three accused. One accused was arrested at 2.30 am Monday and the others were arrested later. A First Information Report (FIR) against the accused individuals has been filed. The accused are identified as Pankaj Salgaonkar, Pankar Sadekar, both from Colvale, and Deven Temkar from Tivim.

The accused have been arrested under Sections 341(wrongful restraint), 504(abuse), 506(2) (threatening with dire consequences), 354(outraging modesty), 509(usage of vulgar words), 307(attempt to murder) and 324 (assault).

Further investigations are being carried out by PSI Kunal Naik, under the supervision of PI Vijay Rane and overall supervision of SDPO Jivba Dalvi.
