MAPUSA: The Colvale Village Panchayat has started the process of cracking the whip on illegal scrapyards and has issued show cause notices to 51 yards in the village.
A resolution regarding the same was passed in the panchayat meeting a week ago in the backdrop of fire in a Mushirwada scrapyard.
The Panchayat in its notice as asked why the local body shouldn’t seal the scrapyards as these were set up without taking its permission. The panchayat in the notice has instructed the owners to remain present for hearing, with their written response during the office hours within seven days.
