MARGAO: Union Minister of Environment and Forests (MoEF) and Climate Change Prakash Javdekar and the Central Government have taken the Goa Government for granted, said the Goa Forward Party. GFP president Vijai Sardesai has given an ultimatum of two days for the Government to come clear on the plan of action or dare to dissolve the assembly and fight a fresh election on the issue of Mhadei.
“The MoEF Minister is the biggest betrayer of Goa,” said Vijai over the act of Central Government and the Minister passing the buck to the Goa Chief Minister on the Mhadei issue. Javdekar, who is in Goa, said at a press conference earlier on Sunday, that the Mhadei river diversion would be explained by the Chief Minister of Goa Dr Pramod Sawant.
“Minister Javdekar is the biggest betrayer of Goa as he has given permissions for Mhadei river diversion and also for the projects through the Mollem forests,” said Vijai while claiming that the minister has been sent by the Government to fool Goans.
“It took journalists and activists to show that the river has already been diverted. The Government has already delayed the contempt petition and now, before even the three-member Committee is established, the river is already diverted,” added Vijai.
Vijai alleged that the Government is not even serious about saving Mhadei. “We will have to come together to save our lifeline river Mhadei, the future of Goa, and hit the roads with protests if the Government is not going to do the needful to save mother Mhadei,” he said.
