Commercial LPG cylinder prices hiked from October 1, domestic rates unchanged

Commercial LPG cylinder prices have increased across several Indian cities from October 1, with the latest revision affecting users of 19-kg commercial cylinders. Domestic consumers, however, have received no change in the price of 14.2-kg LPG cylinders.

In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by Rs 62.50, rising from Rs 2,747.50 in September to Rs 2,810 from October 1. In Mumbai, the cylinder is now priced at Rs 2,764, up Rs 63 from Rs 2,701 previously.

Chennai has seen a Rs 66.50 increase, taking the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder from Rs 2,916.50 to Rs 2,983. Patna recorded the highest increase among the cities cited, with the price rising by Rs 71.50 from Rs 3,029 to Rs 3,100.50.

In Lucknow, the commercial LPG cylinder now costs Rs 2,932.50, compared with Rs 2,870 previously. Prices have also gone up in other parts of the country. In Leh, the price has risen from Rs 3,385.50 to Rs 3,450, while in Tawang it has increased to Rs 3,073.50.

The revised price in Ahmedabad stands at Rs 2,831.50, while consumers in Kanyakumari will now pay Rs 3,046 for a 19-kg commercial cylinder.

The price revision primarily affects commercial establishments that use 19-kg LPG cylinders, including restaurants, hotels and other businesses. The increase comes as India enters the festive season, when demand from businesses and commercial establishments can be significant.

For household consumers, there is no corresponding increase in the domestic LPG cylinder price. The price of a 14.2-kg domestic cylinder remains unchanged in the cities listed in the report.

In Delhi, the domestic cylinder continues to cost Rs 942. In Mumbai, the price remains Rs 941.50, while consumers in Chennai continue to pay Rs 957.50. The domestic cylinder costs Rs 979.50 in Lucknow and Rs 1,031.50 in Patna.

The latest commercial LPG prices follow the rates listed for September 1 by IndianOil. At that time, the 19-kg cylinder was priced at Rs 2,747.50 in Delhi, Rs 2,884 in Kolkata, Rs 2,701 in Mumbai and Rs 2,916.50 in Chennai.

LPG prices are influenced by international LPG benchmarks as well as currency movements. Data on petroleum prices and LPG in India is maintained by the Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

The October 1 revision therefore means that businesses relying on commercial LPG will face higher cylinder costs, while households using the standard 14.2-kg domestic cylinder will not see a change from this particular price revision.
