NUVEM: People-centric community development initiatives, besides creating employment for the youth will be my top priorities, said Congress candidate from Nuvem constituency, Aleixo Sequeira.
Speaking with Herald, Sequeira expressed confidence that he is on the way to taste another victory in Nuvem, as people want him as the next MLA of the constituency. The Congress candidate added that he is getting overwhelming response from the voters of Nuvem. He has almost finished the door –to-door campaigning and is now focusing on corner meetings in every part of the constituency.
“People of Nuvem constituency are very much upset with defection. They don’t want defectors to represent them in the next Assembly. People are looking for a leader who will resolve their issues permanently and I will be working towards that,” he said.
He further said that the youth of the constituency are unemployed, and during his tenure he was able to achieve the task of providing permanent jobs to the youth in the power department.
“At a holistic level I promise to create a massive employment pool for our youth and above all, I will work towards re-employing those who lost their jobs when I was not in power. I will also leave no stone unturned to strengthen our healthcare system,” Sequeira said.
He also said that safety of women and children will be his top priority.
When asked about the issues raised by the people at the time of door to door campaigning, he said that there are several area-wise issues in Nuvem constituency.
There are many other issues depending on the village and wards. Like for example people of Calata, Majorda, Utorda, Betalbatim are demanding underground cabling facilities.
“Nuvem has amazing talented footballers who need to be nurtured for playing at professional level. However it’s sad to say that until now we have not given our dynamic youth a proper football ground that I had envisioned during my earlier tenure. I promise to get a football ground here to help the youth fulfil their ambition to play for professional clubs,” he promised.
“Restructuring and sustainable development with progressive thinking is need of the hour.”
