Commuting on the Colvale to Guirum highway is a nightmare

MAPUSA: NH 66 from Colvale to Guirim has turned extremely dangerous especially at night, as the road has developed so many potholes that it is a nightmarish experience for daily commuters. The two-wheeler riders find it far more difficult and the rains have not made it easier for them.

Commuters and residents in the taluka have blamed the haphazard work on the NH 66 and lamented that even though they travel on this road every day, nothing has changed.

The work of highway expansion commenced in 2018 but due to the authorities turning a blind eye to the situation, there have been many who have made accidents on this stretch of the highway.

The situation is similar when it comes to the major district roads in parts of Bardez, especially Siolim where the commuters have to endure a bumpy riders when they travel from Pernem or

or Siolim to Mapusa via the Marna road. At this place, work is underway of installing a pipeline by WRD but due to COVID, the same has been delayed and digging of roads continues.

The Marna Siolim road from Kuchelim junction to Siolim Church and further till Assagao is totally in a bad shape.

“From the last several years this road at Siolim is in a bad condition. The road is muddy and since it is not hot mixed, people end up falling after their motorbikes slips over the muddy road,” said Yogesh Naik a daily commuter.
