MARGAO: The commuting woes of Housing Board residents at Gogol are likely to continue till next year with PWD declaring that the tarring of the road may be delayed beyond January due to logistical problems.
The latest development has dashed hopes of Housing Board residents and Gogol commuters of getting a road free from potholes.
PWD sources informed that the road tender has already been awarded and the work order has been issued. But due to the rains, the work will be delayed till November. According to road contractors, the hot-mix plant may not be opened this year. After the proper technical back-up, the plant may begin in January next year.
In June, the roads in the Housing Board area till Vidyanagar junction were flooded with potholes emerging from the previous digging works. Parents of school children and locals have been inconvenienced for over two months as several patch works in Gogol Housing Board area got washed off.
People from the locality have already taken out rallies and morchas but nothing really happened. Incidents of city buses breaking down due to bad road conditions have been highlighted but nothing has been done to improve the roads till date.
