PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant distributed ‘compassionate appointment orders’ to 12 family members of government staffers who had died on duty, on Tuesday.
These appointment orders were issued through the Personnel Department under the Social Security Scheme, which is being implemented in the interest of those families who lost their respective family member, who was earning a living by working in various government departments before his or her untimely demise.
As many as 499 government appointments, on compassionate grounds, are pending to the family members of staffers who died on duty. From 2019 to date, a total of 246 appointments are done under the Social Security Scheme.
Speaking to mediapersons, Sawant said the 499 appointments are pending due to various reasons and that the government intends to clear them as soon as possible.
All the postings are considered against available posts taking into consideration seniority, educational qualification, category, etc. Secondly, the postings of the candidates belonging to the reserved categories are considered against the respective category available and as per merit and seniority.
