CALANGUTE: A member of Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB), has filed a police complaint against the organisers of Sunburn Music Festival for alleged destruction of grazing land and hill at Vagator.
In his complaint to the Anjuna police inspector, GSBB member Dr D’Souza stated that while on a field trip to Vagator, they witnessed several trees being trimmed, cut and burnt by the organisers. Several trees were also cut, grass and bushes destroyed for the event last year.
He further stated that a report was filed by him and other scientists to Goa State Biodiversity Board to save Goan hill biodiversity and preserve the grazing land at Vagator for posterity. The State government was requested to ensure that Anjuna Communidade along with the forest department and GSBB plant more trees for posterity.
Anjuna police has been requested to file a criminal complaint and register an FIR and stop destruction of the forest.
