Complaint filed against CM, others

A local resident has filed a criminal complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation, Goa Police against Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, former and present director of Mines and Geology Department and Vedanta Group for alleged illegal extraction of ore.

PANJIM: A local resident has filed a criminal complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation, Goa Police against Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, former and present director of Mines and Geology Department and Vedanta Group for alleged illegal extraction of ore.  

Khemlo Sawant of Amona has alleged that the extraction of ore was not only illegal but also in violation of the environment clearance in connivance with the Goa government. 

The complaint has named Chief Minister and Mines Minister Manohar Parrikar, Director of Mines Prasanna Acharya, ex-director of Mines Arun Lolienkar, Chairman of Vedanta Group (Sesa Goa Ltd) Anil Agarwal, Managing Director of Sesa Goa Ltd P K Mukherjee, other responsible officers of Sesa Goa and other government officers. 

“That in violation of EC the government accepted royalty for the year 2011-12 of 66 lakh tones. That being so the government has accepted royalty more than EC…” the complaint reads.  Sawant alleged that Sesa Goa has extracted 66 lakh tones ore which is more than permitted limit put by EC.
