Complaint filed against Sudin over poor road quality

PONDA: In a major embarrassment to former PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar and Marcaim MLA, a native of his own constituency, has filed a complaint with the Chief Minister and Vigilance Department over the poor quality of roads across Goa.
Ashwinkumar Naik, who is also a panch member of Camurlim Panchayat, has also complained against PWD engineers and contractors and has asked that all of them be held accountable for the bad road conditions, which has resulted in injuries vehicle riders and commuters.
He referred to the recent bus accident that occurred at Raia, where 10 people were injured. The bus had lost control after going over a pothole, which led to the accident.
He pointed out that the entire road stretch between Arlem Circle in Fatorda to Borim Bridge had been tarred recently in 2019 but that it has started to deteriorate within a few months. He said the government should conduct an inquiry over the road quality and take action against negligence.
Speaking to Herald, Ashwinkumar said PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar can’t be blamed for the present state of roads, as they had been done during the Sudin’s tenure as PWD minister. He said Sudin, the PWD engineers and contractors concerned, should be held accountable for the pothole-ridden roads. He also called for the government to check the warranty on the road and for action to be taken accordingly.
