In a fresh development to the alleged Rs 4.7 lakh Sanvordem Panchayat library fund scam, Sanket Bhandari has lodged a formal complaint at the Curchorem Police Station accusing the panchayat of misusing 14th Finance Commission funds. The money, sanctioned for constructing a public library, was reportedly diverted for other purposes.
It may be recalled that O Heraldo had earlier exposed the scam, revealing that the site shown as the panchayat library was actually a Ganesh visarjan location, with no books, furniture, or library equipment present.

Bhandari also raised objections to a panchayat meeting held on Sunday without any prior public notice, terming it a violation of procedural norms. He has called for strict action against both the panchayat members implicated and the panchayat secretary, whom he alleges is equally responsible for the irregularities.
Authorities are now expected to investigate the matter, which has stirred public outrage in Sanvordem.
