VASCO: The Returning Officer for all seven Panchayats under Mormugao Taluka on Saturday rejected all complaints against the candidature of Kamlaprasad Yadav, Nilam Naik and Archana Kori who are contesting from various wards of Chicalim Panchayat.
According to information, Returning Officer Satish Prabhu took up the objections for hearing in the evening and after going through the documents and reply submitted by the respondents, Prabhu rejected the disqualification plea against the three.
Meanwhile, scrutiny of the nominations filed by the candidates contesting election from remaining three panchayat bodies including Cortalim, Velsao Pale Issorcim and Cansaulim Arossim Cuelim was held on Saturday and all the nominations were accepted from these panchayats. Similarly, scrutiny of two wards remaining from Sancoale including ward 5 and 6 which were on hold after HC stayed notification of delimitation and reservation of wards was also held on Saturday.
“As the High Court had stayed the reservation notification, and changing of wards from 6 to 5 of Sancoale, today we have retained the ward number five and six as it was in the 2012 Panchayat polls. Though the ward number five was changed to six and six to five citing geographical boundaries however after HC passed and order, we have retained these two wards as it was earlier before Panchayat department issued corrigendum and changed these wards number. Similarly the ward number 6 was notified as reserved ward for women however after HC order now instead of ward number 6, ward number 5 has been reserved for women,” Prabhu said.
He further said, “All nominations from male candidates from ward number 5 have been rejected as the same has become reserve ward for women. The rest have been accepted.”
