complaints lodged by both camps
HERALD REPORTER
VASCO, OCT 26
Police complaints and counter complaints were filed against Revenue Minister Jose Philip D’Souza and former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco in connection with the brawl at Vasco on Tuesday night.
Three supporters of D’Souza, who were present along with him when they entered in the hotel, lodged a police complaint against Pacheco for allegedly distributing money in the council election.
Anthony Fernandes, Balu Salgaokar and Atela Sayed also accused Pacheco of exchanging a money bag from one car to another.
On the other hand, Simon Pereira, Mariano Fernandes, and Edwin Carvalho, all from Vasco, as well as Diego Pereira, of Betalbatim and owner of the damaged car, filed a counter police complaint against Jose Philip and his supporters.
They accused Jose Philip, former MMC chairperson and Ward 20 candidate Kritesh Gaonkar and Ward 18 candidate Premanand Nanoskar (Babu) of assaulting Pacheco and damaging the car.
Simon Pereira, Mariano Fernandes and Edwin Carvalho complained that D’Souza along with his supporters had assaulted Pacheco, while Diego Pereira filed a police complaint against Kritesh Gaonkar and Premanand Nanoskar.
However, Pacheco refrained from filing a police complaint stating that his party high command had asked him not to lodge complaint against D’Souza.
Vasco Police later took Pacheco and his friends, who were present in the hotel, for medical examination. Pacheco and his supporters later left for Benaulim.
Vasco Police Inspector Braz Menezes told Herald that complaints have been received from both parties and said the police would act as per the complaints of the concerned parties.
Meanwhile, a large police force, including teams from the Verna police station and IRB, was stationed in Vasco to control law and order following the brawl between the two NCP legislators.
