MARGAO: Staff and employees attached to the office of South Goa Administrator of Communidades have been left high and dry with no salaries for the last four months.
While employees of government and semi government departments have received their monthly salary on time, the Communidade employees informed that they have not received their salaries for the months of April, May, June and July.
And, they appear keeping their fingers crossed whether they and their families will be able to celebrate the ensuing Ganesh festival scheduled at the fag end of August with no sign of the government releasing the salary payments.
Inquiries in the Administrator’s office revealed that the office had moved the government a month ago with a proposal to clear the salary dues of the employees. Though the government has sanctioned the amount, funds towards the payment of the salaries are yet to flow in to the Administrator’s office till date.
In the past too, the Communidade employees had to go without salaries for months together before their plight attracted the attention of the Goa State Human Rights Commission. The employees are now hoping against hope that the government would release their salaries right on time before the Ganesh celebrations.
