MARGAO: The wait for salaries of the South Goa Comunidades staff was over after the revenue department released the pending salaries of the 27 staff members. The staff was not paid salaries for over one and half year.
The staff has been waiting for salaries since September 2016. The collector’s office was hopeful on release of salaries by end of January but the salary was released much early.
Meanwhile, the comunidade staff rejected the government’s proposal that comunidades should be self dependent. The staff says that there are some comunidades that get revenue as low as Rs 500 or Rs 1000 per year.
