PANJIM: The State government has directed the comunidades to elect governing bodies, failing which it will appoint members to the bodies. The direction comes in the wake of illegalities in some comunidades.
Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte claimed the move will ensure curbing illegal activities. “Several illegalities in comunidades were because it had many problems. Half the comunidades in the State don’t have elected bodies. Government has directed those comunidades without elected bodies, to do so,” he said on Tuesday.
The alleged illegalities in Colvale Comunidade plot allotments had echoed in the monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly.
