Concern raised over failure to repair retaining wall of culvert at Dovondde

MARGAO: Locals and commuters have raised concerns about the failure of the authorities to repair the retaining wall of the culvert at Dovondde Fatorda, which is located on the Fatorda to Nuvem stretch of the National Highway.

Given that thousands pass by this road on a daily basis, locals and the commuters have asked if the authorities will only act if there is an accident or if someone dies given the risk those passing this area face.

Locals pointed out that nearly two months ago, this retaining wall broke and collapsed, which is next to the water body that flows below the culvert. While there is a ‘work in progress’ board near this site, no work has started since then.

Locals are worried that given the fact that monsoons are approaching, there could be an accident when it rains heavily as there is poor visibility. They were also concerned about the culvert itself suffering from damage. The authorities were urged to look into this issue at the earliest and fix the wall before the end of the month.
