VASCO: Concerns are being raised over possible outbreak of a gang war at Baina after two groups clashed last Tuesday. Deepak Naik, the local councillor and President of the Vasco BJP mandal, expressed his concern and urged the police to take strict action to prevent such incidents. He has also called on politicians to discourage such groups from taking law in their own hands.
Naik has submitted a memorandum to Vasco’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Salim Shaikh, and Inspector Kapil Nayak. He said that hooliganism should not be tolerated, and has demanded that the authorities take step in to prevent any violence. DySP Salim Shaikh and Inspector Kapil Nayak also issued stern warnings, promising that strict action would be taken against those involved in hooliganism.
The clash between two groups occurred after a cricket match in Chhota Bazar, Baina, around midnight on Tuesday. This time, the conflict escalated as both groups claimed to have political backing, prompting the police to initiated an investigation into the incident.
With the upcoming events such as the narakasur and other festivals, there is a growing concern about potential confrontations among members of both the groups. The police are being urged to increase patrolling and suppress hooliganism.
DySP Salim Shaikh clarified that they are maintaining continuous patrolling, with a zero-tolerance policy to hooliganism.
