CONCERNS RAISED OVER ILLEGAL TRANSPORTATION OF FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCE LIQUOR THROUGH FORESTS

Canacona Police have seized illegal liquor worth Rs 10 lakh while being smuggled through the wildlife forest areas in the bordering village of Goa Karnataka.

The action was initiated under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Canacona Tikam Singh Varma (IPS). The seized illegal liquor which contains different kinds of liquor is worth Rs. 10 Lakhs(approx) which was being smuggled in the state of Karnataka. The raid was conducted during the wee hours of Thursday in Marle village in Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary near the Goa-Karnataka border. 

The police have succeeded in nabbing eight persons including the carriers of the contraband. The police have also seized two vehicles. 

Meanwhile, concerns have mounted in Canacona as locals have questioned wildlife officials about the inflammable substances being transported in huge quantities through the wildlife checkpost. The transportation amounts to a violation of section 32 of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 which has raised urgent calls for intervention by Chief Wildlife Warden Wildlife Protection Canacona.
