Within this week, two roads have caved in the ‘smart city, Panjim’ one at St Inez and one at Tonca endangering the lives of people. Both incidents saw trucks sinking into these roads. The first incident injured four labourers; thankfully, there were no injuries when the second incident occurred. This goes to show that there are other hazardous spots in the city and danger looms over the citizens of Panjim.
CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate said that the Smart City Officials have taken up the works and not the CCP. He stated that he has told the contractors to come up with a safety audit, as such, incidents are not tolerable, he added that action against the contractor should be taken.
