Conference of oral and maxillofacial surgeons

PANJIM:  Nearly 1500 delegates are expected to attend the 39th National Conference of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of India which begins Friday at a seaside resort in North Goa. 
Fifteen international speakers and 67 national speakers will present papers at the conference. There will be six pre-conference courses to enhance knowledge and skill, to broaden the new horizons of advancements made in maxillofacial surgery.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is seen as a bridge between medicine and dentistry and is the surgical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, face and neck including head and neck cancers, salivary gland diseases, facial disproportion, facial pain, impacted teeth, cysts and tumours of the jaws. Numerous problems affecting the oral mucosa such as mouth ulcers and infections as well as trauma are part of this field.
The department of OMFS is organizing this conference in Goa for the second time.
