PANJIM: The Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs will organise a joint regional conference on Official Language and award ceremony on Friday, October 22 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, for Central government offices, banks and public sector enterprises in West and Central regions.
Union Minister for Tourism, Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shripad Naik and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra will attend the ceremony. Secretary, Department of Official Language Sushri Anshuli Arya and Joint Secretary Dr Meenakshi Jolly will also be present on the occasion.
Speaking to reporters, Joint Secretary Dr Meenakshi Jolly on Thursday said that in order to promote the use of Hindi, the Official Language Department organises four regional meetings every year. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the conventions could not take place in the last two years. This is the first regional convention taking place in Goa for the year 2021-2022.
The Department of Official Language has launched an online system to submit the reports of the Official Language Implementation Committees to the Department through the ‘Information Dissemination System’. User id and passwords have been given to committees for the said purpose.
At the conference, the award winners who have done an outstanding job in the field of Official Language will be honoured with certificates and mementos.
