MARGAO: There appears to be confusion over the Margao Carnival parade with the District Administration claiming to have received no communication regarding the shifting of the parade to the old traditional route.
It is pertinent to note that the Tourism Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Azgaonkar had earlier stated that the parade would be held along the old route. Chairman of the Margao Carnival Committee had in a recent statement to the press had claimed that the parade will be held along the old route in Margao. This announcement came after the Tourism Minister had claimed to have changed the routes in Margao and Panjim too.
District Collector Ajit Roy claimed that his office has not received any communication for any changes related to the Carnival parade route.
“We will hold a meeting to discuss the same shortly,” Roy said and added that the district administration takes a call on deciding the parade route.
