PANJIM: Condemning the attack on the iconic Souza Lobo Restaurant at Calangute, the opposition Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said that it is a proof of assailants getting emboldened due to of collapsing law and order.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) general secretary Sunil Kawthankar said that attack on the Souza Lobo Restaurant for the third time shows that the law and order has completely collapsed in the State. There was a mob of 60 to 60 persons who attacked the restaurant and the police had arrested only four to five persons while, most of the attackers are still at large.
“We strongly condemn the attack. The incident only shows that the criminals have no fear and are emboldened. We will come on the streets if the police fails to arrest all the culprits involved in the attack.”
Kawthankar said that COVID-19 regulations have been is violated in the coastal belt. A large number of tourists who have arrived in the State to celebrate New Year are paying no need to COVID-19 protocols and social distancing norms, he said fearing that it would result in surge in COVID-19 cases.
The Congress general secretary also condemned the government for using Mormugao police to harass the persons, who had exposed the sex scandal involving a former Minister.
