Cong alleges code violation by Parrikar

PANJIM: A complaint of violation of election modal code of conduct has been filed against Chief Minister and BJP candidate Manohar Parrikar.
Congress candidate Girish Chodankar’s election agent Rohit Bras De Sa has filed a complaint before the Returning Officer for the Panjim by-poll.
In his complaint, De Sa has alleged that Parikar violated the election code of conduct during his interaction with the students, wherein he promised to distribute laptops post by-elections.
“The DigitialGoa SMS service has reported that the chief minister has promised that Cyberage laptops will be distributed after the by-polls,” the complaint stated.
He said that Parikar, despite being a candidate, continues to attend government functions and is using the forum for making speeches to dole out incentives to voters in order to lure them.
“The conduct of Parrikar is in violation of the model code of conduct and also violation of the Supreme Court judgment, wherein it has clearly stated that the election commission has to ensure level playing field between the parties,” De Sa said in his complaint.
De Sa has demanded that immediate action be initiated in the case.
