Cong alleges untrained deployed as lifeguards

While Drishti Lifesaving Pvt Ltd states it is training new lifeguards to man the beaches, Congress has again alleged that untrained persons and non-Goans are being deployed as lifeguards.
Addressing media persons on Monday, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) spokesperson Swati Kerkar alleged that untrained people have been deployed as lifeguards on beaches, thus risking the lives of tourists and others, venturing into sea.
She also alleged that youth from Maharashtra and Karnataka have been recruited and trained as lifeguards, depriving Goans of the job.
“We strongly condemn the act of Drishti and Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar, who is protecting the private company,” Kerkar said.
She reiterated the demand that the government bring lifeguard services under its own ambit.
