PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar on Monday wrote to State Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar asking to furnish certified copy of verdict on disqualification petition pronounced on April 20.
In his letter to the Speaker, Chodankar says on the day of the order he had submitted his letter to the Speaker asking to give certified copy of his judgement at the earliest. The Speaker assured him that the copy would be provided to him after certain corrections were done in the order.
On the next day, Chodankar received a telephonic call from the Speaker’s office informing him that the copy of the order is not yet ready and that he will be informed once the same is ready.
He stated that till date he had not received any intimation about the same nor has been provided with the certified copy while, the other petitioner Sudin Dhavalikar of MGP was given the certified copy on April 22.
“It has been six days from the date of pronouncement of the aforesaid order, however till date we have not been furnished with the certified copy which has severely prejudiced rights of the undersigned of availing appropriate legal remedies against the said order,” Chodankar stated.
He said that he wanted a certified copy of the order as intend to challenge the Speaker’s order before the High Court or the Supreme Court as may be advised, since the matter concerns serious issue of disqualification if the MLAs and that the term of the current Assembly coming to end shortly.
Requesting the Speaker to give the certified copy of the order, Chodankar said that failing to do so he will be forced to challenge the order before the appropriate Court without annexing the copy of the order and also informing the Court about the fact that the certified copy has not yet been furnished to him. Not giving the certified copy is clearly an attempt to obstruct him from availing appropriate legal remedies against the verdict, he added.
