CURCHOREM: The Congress party assured to fulfil all the promises made in the manifesto including solving the issue of mining and other issue related to Goa and Goans.
Addressing a public meeting at Quepem, actor turned politician and All India Mahila Congress General Secretary Nagma said that the government at the State as well as at the Centre failed to resolve the mining issue despite large section of people dependent on it.
“Due to stoppage of mining, people have become unemployed and the unemployment not only grown in Goa but all over the country due to implementation of GST, demonetization and faulty planning of the BJP government,” Nagma said.
Taking a dig at the Goan MPs, she said that they could not even take an appointment with the prime minister when the mining dependent people went to Delhi with their grievances demanding resumption of mining to protect their livelihood. “Assuring people to bring black money, prime minister toured all over the world and did nothing in Goa except purchasing MLAs from Congress and MGP” she said.
“Whatever Rahul had promised at Madya Pradesh, Rajesthan and Chhattisgarh for farmers was implemented within less than 10 days and the Nyay scheme which he promised would bring happiness and joy among the poor people of the country as they would be given Rs 72,000 per year,” Nagma assured and adding that the schemes of Congress has brought various benefits to all the sections of people.

She also urged the people to think wisely whether they want a government which put formalin in the fish and creating unemployment or party working for the development and welfare of the people like Congress.
“Politicians should not take people for granted and must not make promises which could not be fulfilled to seek votes but must tell the truth and assure them whatever is possible and can do,” Quepem MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar said.
He highlighted various promises made by the Rahul Gandhi in the party Manifesto to credit Rs 72,000 directly into the account of poor people, 33 percent reservation for women, to give plot for housing, interest free loan to students etc.
Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias urged the voters to be united and vote for Congress and not to vote for non-serious candidate like AAP. “Your every vote to APP would be a double vote for BJP. Therefore, think wisely and vote for Congress to send BJP out of power,” Dias said.
Earlier, Congress candidate Francisco Sardinha, former chief minister Pratapsing Rane, State Mahila Congress Chief Pratima Coutinho, Councillor Raul Pereira spoke on the occasion.
