MARGAO: South Goa Independent candidate, Shalom Sardinha has said that both the Congress and the BJP would pursue the proposed airport at Mopa after the election.
He reiterated that he his candidature has the blessing of his parents so long as he walks the path of truth and justice, even as he appealed to the people of South Goa to vote for his candidature. Shalom said that he had rejected the various offers, including the offer that he would be congress’ candidate in the event of a bye-poll in Curtorim, to withdraw from the fray.
Addressing the media on Sunday, Shalom said that while the BJP has vowed to pursue the Mopa airport, Congress candidate for North Ravi Naik has supported the proposed airport.
“When Reginaldo was the chairperson of the South Goa Zilla Panchayat, there was a resolution passed in favour of Mopa. You can well imagine what would happen to the Mopa airport if both the BJP and Congress win the election”, he added.
He came down heavily on the Congress policies at the centre and accused the UPA for being involved in a host of scams during the last five years.
“Sardinha and other Congress MPs had opposed the reduction of the LPG cylinders to six. It appears the government finally increased the number of LGP cylinders to 12 with an eye on the election. The UPA government spent Rs 8000 crore on the Aadhar Card, but its future is in peril”, he said.
“My father Francisco Sardinha has blessed my candidature because he knows I am walking the path of truth and justice”, Shalom added.
