Cong cautions govt not to be complacent with present zero COVID death

MARGAO:  The Congress party on Tuesday warned the government not to become complacent like last time when death cases reported to zero and it suddenly surged ahead due to negligence. Congress party submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and other concerned departments. 

 Janardhan S. Bhandari, General Secretary of Congress said the latest report indicates that COVID death rates have declined in the State and as the State Government is in the process of opening borders and starting economic activities in full swing. 

“The Congress Party, as a constructive opposition took this opportunity to submit vital suggestions to the Government before taking any major decision,” he said. 

Congress cautioned the government as the deadline of July 31 to complete vaccination of the first dose was missed; the borders should not be thrown open. 

“As cases are increasing in Kerala, we must be vigilant. The Congress Party also suggests strengthening the Testing Centres at the various borders by appointing necessary manpower and equipment. Also, we requested to government to open testing centres at borders where it is not open yet, to avoid the fear of transmission. Such efforts will increase job opportunities for Goan youths,” said Bhandari.
