PANJIM: Comparing the BJP government in the State to a “headless chicken”, former Congress chief minister Pratapsingh Rane wondered why there is a lack of trust in delegating powers to other party members.
The Poriem MLA warned the government not to test their patience. “Our government is moving like a headless chicken. There are no quick decisions. Months have passed and we are waiting patiently,” Rane said in the presence of other party MLAs and State party president Girish Chodankar.
“The Congress party has been very patient and sentimental towards the health of the leader at helm of affairs. We will wait with little more patience but our patience can also run out,” he added.
The State’s longest serving Chief Minister, questioned why there is a lack of trust to delegate powers to his own people. “I don’t understand this. Why can’t he (Chief Minister) trust his own people? We have been without a leader for the last two and half months. How long to wait?” he asked.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has been ailing since mid-February and is currently undergoing treatment in USA. In his absence, a three Minister Cabinet Advisory Committee (CAC) has been constituted to guide the State administration.
Speaking further, Rane said that in a democracy there is no permanent seat as one has to keep on delivering to the demands of the people. “I want Goa to set an example. Be an ideal and peaceful State,” he stated.
