Cong condemns closure of alleged sex scandal case

PANJIM: Condemning the closure of in the alleged sex scandal case against former Minister and MLA Milind Naik, the Congress on Wednesday said that it will approach the High Court of Bombay at Goa and seek investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Congress media department chairman Amarnath Panjikar and Mahila Congress president Beena Naik alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has used government machinery to save Naik from the alleged sex scandal case.

“The so called “closure” of the police complaint filed by GPCC vice president Sankalp Amonkar by Women’s Police Station is nothing but well-orchestrated drama by the State government on the eve of declaration of the tickets by the BJP, only to facilitate giving of ticket to Milind Naik,’’ Panjikar said.

Panjikar said that all this drama is orchestrated at the dictates of the Chief Minister only with the intention of protecting Naik.

Panjikar said that it is rather shocking and absolutely surprising that the Women’s Police Station has purportedly closed the case on the basis that the victim has rebutted the allegations and SDPO Vasco has conducted a detailed inquiry.
