PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Friday condemned the government for failing to regularise the services of para teachers.
Addressing the media, GPCC Legal Cell chairman Adv Yatish Naik said, “We condemn the attitude of this government that failed to regularise the services of the para teachers. The government should have understood this issue sympathetically. This government has a habit of making U-turns and should now immediately regularise the teachers to honour its promise.”
He added, “There were about 100 odd women and some man sitting to agitate against the government as regards a very genuine and meritorious issue at the Assembly complex till sometime in the noon. After the government notified Section 144 it made them to move out by giving 10 minutes.”
Naik said the demand is not new. “Before the 2012 assembly elections they had pressed for regularisation in service during which BJP president Vinay Tendulkar had written a letter dated December15, 2016 askign to regularise their services by June 2017. Again in the 2017 manifesto they reassured that they will be regularized,” he said.
GPCC also condemned the government’s move of notifying Section 144 around the Assembly complex in which force was used against the women.
