PANJIM: Congress condemned ex-chief minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa for ‘painting political colour’ to the valour of the Indian Air Force, which carried out the air strikes on Pakistan avenging the Pulwama attacks.
Congress carried out a protest march in the capital from Congress House to Azad Maidan and later burnt an effigy of Yeddyurappa on the promenade near the ferry jetty.
Condemning Yeddyurappa, Congress’ North Goa President Vijai Bhike said, “It is the valour of the defence forces and no party in the government can take credit for their efforts. Yeddyurappa is an ex-CM and he should not try to politicise the issue for the benefit of the BJP.”
Mahila Congress President Pratima Coutinho said, “Congress party condemns Yeddyurappa for his statement. It is a shameful statement and he is making a mockery of the defence forces. He should not give a political colour to the valour of the army. Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and the whole of BJP stands exposed.”
On Wednesday ahead of a party workers’ meet in Davangere, Yeddyurappa had said, “The assault on Pakistan will prove to be decisive for our victory across the country with the Modi wave catching fervour among the youngsters celebrating the attack on the neighboring state and avenging the 44 CRPF jawans killed in Pulwama. I am certain that in Karnataka also we will be able to pull off at least 22 seats after yesterday’s attack and today morning’s effort in bringing down the Pakistan airplane at the border.”
