BARDEZ: As Congress created history in Siolim, Michael Lobo managed to get three more seats along with Calangute but the Mapusa Constituency seat was out of reach.
It is for the first time in history, Congress won in Siolim Constituency with a woman candidate, wife of former minister Michael Lobo by defeating former MLAs and ministers Dayanand Mandrekar and Vinod Palyekar.
There were total 13 candidates, who had contested in Siolim Constituency. However, Congress managed to sweep the seat.
Similarly, Congress managed to wrestle the hat-trick of Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo where Adv Carlos Ferreira won the seat defeating sitting MLA and former Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar, who had contested on a TMC ticket.
Lobo, who had targeted six seats including Calangute, managed to complete his hat-trick along with getting three more seats in Siolim, Saligao and Aldona constituencies but lost the Mapusa seat.
