MARGAO: The GPCC President Girish Chodankar has demanded that Mauvin Godinho step down as panchayat minister for free and fair probe in the power scam.
Chodankar has asked the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to remove Mauvin as minister if he does not step down from the cabinet.
“When Parrikar was in opposition, he had opened a multi crore power scam case against Mauvin and was the complainant in the case. Since the Supreme Court has now directed trial in the case, Mauvin should step down from the post,” Chodankar said.
“Holding a ministerial post can bring hindrance in the trial. As the complainant is chief minister and accused is a cabinet minister, Mauvin can’t be a minister till the verdict is pronounced in the case,” Chodankar postulated.
“The CM has to demand his resignation or sack him as when he was in opposition he had objected the ministerial berth of Congress Minister Dayanand Narvekar when the ticket scam was exposed,” he said.
